| Creating Your Book |
Our proven approach to business ghostwriting, The BusinessGhost WayTM,
means you only have to devote an hour a week and you can have your
complete book ready for the printer in less than six months. You can't
get that kind of quality and speed...with minimal disruption to your
work schedule...anywhere else.
Writing a book is a very personal experience, so everyone has different needs and a different approach. We will work with you to tailor the BusinessGhost Way to your own specific desires, time frame, and interests: 1. Discovering Your Needs. What would have to happen for you to consider your book a huge success? What kind of process works best for you? What concerns do you have as you embark upon the journey to becoming an author? Our first mission is to learn about your needs, concerns, and desires. We begin by creating a personal connection between you and your team at BusinessGhost. 2. Strategizing the Book. Anyone can ghost write a book; we work with you strategically to determine exactly what the right book is for you right now. Working closely with your BusinessGhost author, a world-class writer carefully selected to meet your specific needs, you will answer these three vital questions: A. What is the core audience for the book? In other words, what group of decision-makers do you want the book to reach? This may be a market you have always wanted to tap into. For our clients, this is an exciting consulting exercise in determining the future direction of their business. B. What body of knowledge do you possess that would convince that audience that they should hire you and your company? What must the book contain for the readers to say, "This is the person or business we need to hire!"? C. How do we translate that body of knowledge into a table of contents for the book? You and your author will determine the basic flow of information from you to the reader. Your author will annotate each chapter with a basic description of the kind of information and ideas to be presented in that chapter. The table of contents may shift as the work moves forward, but we will now have a starting point for the creation of the book. 3. Weekly Conversations. You will next schedule a weekly phone meeting, generally sixty minutes in length. Each week, you and Michael will discuss the contents of the next chapter. You will be doing a 'file dump'-- presenting all the information, just talking it out, in whatever order it comes to your mind. Michael will be asking you questions or seeking examples, so that we're both clear on the contents of that chapter. No preparation is necessary on your part-just come ready to discuss the material in the chapter you'll be talking about in that conversation! The keys to a book succeeding are momentum, certainty, and predictability. These weekly meetings are the key to keeping your book on track, and provide minimal disruption to your work week. The meetings allow Michael to get to know you...your ideas...your mode of expression, through regular, enjoyable contact. . 4. First Drafts of the Chapters. Each week, after your conversation, Michael will draft the chapter and send it to you via email. The draft may contain some questions for you about things that you might want to go into more deeply. We will provide a unique, exclusive service at this stage: We will send out your first three chapters, on your letterhead, to five to ten prospects you identify. This will allow you to "break the ice" with them...by asking for their comments on your book! This gives them a chance to admire and revere you as an author...and realize how much they need you to serve them! This approach, which no other ghostwriting service provides, allows our clients to recoup their entire investment in their book even before the first draft is complete. 5. Revising the Completed First Draft. Once the first draft is complete, you and a member of Michael's team will then go back over the chapters, in weekly conversations. You may schedule several meetings a week at this point, if you so choose. When the draft is revised, Michael will go over it with you and make any necessary changes. The main point: to have the draft ready promptly for your friends or colleagues to read. 6. Getting Comments. Once the second draft is complete, generally in six to eight weeks, we will get the manuscript out to people you trust for their comments. We will then discuss these comments with you and incorporate the appropriate changes into the manuscript. We will get the manuscripts out to your selected readers in a manner that protects your confidential relationship with BusinessGhostTM. 7. Implementing Our Unique Blurbing StrategyTM. We offer a unique Blurbing Strategy to position both you, as the author, and your book, brilliantly in the mind of any individual who glances at the front and back covers. Our Unique Blurbing Strategy can only enhance the power of your book to enhance your authority with clients and prospects. 8. Copy Editing. At this point, the manuscript will be ready for our highly experienced copy editor to provide 'a fresh pair of eyes' to check the grammar, spelling, syntax, and other similar issues and make sure the book is ready to set in type. This service is covered in the overall fee for the work. Please note that copy editing is NOT an exact science and that even though we use the best (and the most expensive!) in the business, there may be typos in the final draft. We hope not and do everything we can to avoid them, but perfection in copy editing does not exist! 9. Supervising Production. We will share with you the two primary approaches to producing and distributing your book. One is to hire a book designer, cover designer, and printer, and the other is to take advantage of new 'print on demand' technology. We will discuss the merits of both approaches, and we will be there to serve you as a consultant in the production process. 10. Implementing Strategic Distribution Of Your Book. We will not only write the right book for you right now-we will also guide you in the best possible strategic distribution of your book. What influence leaders should read your book? How will you get it to them? What prospects should read your book? What unusual distribution approaches should you take? Together, we will strategize this issue, so that you get maximum effectiveness from your book. And that's it. The process generally takes under six months and requires a minimal amount of time on your part. The first meeting to decide the table of contents generally requires one to two hours, and can be divided into several meetings. After that, it's just an hour on the phone each week. And within five to six months, your manuscript is complete and your book is in production! BusinessGhostTM...the right book for you...right now. |
